Before putting on the Marley and Me bluray disc I was expecting a traditional romcom flick. Little did I know that this was a movie based on a true and very inspirational story. The plot follows the reporter John Grogan’s life as a dog owner which he chronicles in his very popular Florida newspaper column. Although not your traditional romcom, this movie is big on heart and laughs, and Owen Wilson, Jennifer Aniston and “Marley” have great chemistry and makes a lovely watch.

The bluray movie comes in the expected 1080p full hd with some very nice shots, and with crisp DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack. Marley and Me is a highly recommended for a cosy night in.

Not sure what to watch this weekend? How about a double bill of animation brilliance? Family friendly comedy Madagascar was recently released in UK as Blu-ray, both the original and second movie – Madagascar Escape to Africa Blu-ray.

Although I am yet to watch the blu-ray releases myself both blu-ray movies have received strong reviews for its sharp images and pristine Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack.

The British supernatural sitcom Being Human is making its way onto Blu-ray for a May 11 release. The comedy show revolves around two flat sharing guys – Mitchell and George – who are also a vampire and a werewolf, and whose flat is haunted by the ghost of Annie. Sounds twisted? You bet! Is it funny! Absolutely!

The Being Human Blu-ray series 1 boxset clocks in at no less than 345 minutes in gorgeous high definition. No details about the soundtrack as of yet.

Easter is here. Now, what to watch… Here are three ideas with some (although very minor) connection to Easter:

1. The house bunny – ridicuolous comedy about a playboy bunny
2. Easter promises – hard boiled drama, let’s hope this is not what your Easter will be like
3. Chicken little – sweet family comedy about a little chick

Funny men Simon Pegg and Martin Freeman are a great cop duo in this twisted comedy. This movie was my first encounter with mr Pegg, and have been a real fan ever since. The blu-ray will be available through Amazon on 27 July.

Here’s the plot line “Jealous colleagues conspire to get a top London cop transferred to a small town and paired with a witless new partner”.

As of time of this post, the movie got an average of 8/10 at IMDB. Look out for our own Hot fuzz blu ray review this summer.

The hottest Danny Boyle film to date will grace blu-ray players around the UK starting June 1. This cheerful rags to riches story that revolves around the Indian edition of Who Wants to be a Millionare is two hours of pure bliss to watch.

With a stellar cast, great story and beautifully shot this is a must have for the blu-ray collection. The Slumdog Millionare Blu-ray feature is in 2.35:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.

The drug filled tragi-comedial drama Trainspotting is due on UK Blu-ray beginning of June. A personal favourite of mine, Ewan McGreggor, is absolut stellar in his portrayal of an Edinburgh junkie who’s friends are as original as can be – violent Begbie, misfit Spud, cool dude Sick boy and the good guy Tommy. And of course adolescent Diane.

Directed by Danny Boyle this is the movie that put him in the worlds spotlight the first time around.

The Blu-ray is expected to have True HD 5.1 surround sound, but other specs  are so far scarce.

Finally Friday! Only a couple of more hours until the first pint and a few laughs.  Here’s a couple of ideas for a fun filled evening:

1. Tropic Thunder – Think I haven’t had this much fun at the movies since… ever.. A top comedy from the comedy rat pack.
2. Wall-e – Animated glory from Disney. This little robot will make you laugh without use of words, this is slap stick gold that earned 5 stars in our blu ray review
3. Little Miss Sunshine – A sweet story with a great cast.
4. Be Kind Rewind – Jack Black and Mos Def are stellar in this comedy about a video store gone magnetised.
5. Burn after reading – Although we didn’t give it a rave review, the movie got some high points for Coen fan

Hillarious comedy rat-pack Luke Wilson, Will Farrell and Vince Vaugn will crash into Blu-ray with Old School on April 6.

The movie is about a thirty-something trio who relives their glory colleg years by establishing a kick-ass frat house. If you enjoyed any of the other movies with these guys, you’re bound to laugh out loud more than a few times during its 91 minutes.

The Blu-Ray release comes in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and 2.35:1 widescreen ratio.

Cult comedy Ghost Busters is preparing for its June 15th Blu-Ray release. The 1984 movie should look sharper than ever in 1080p and we look forward to hearing the theme song in Dolby TrueHd 5.1.
