With the 4th film in the series hitting theatres next week Universal are finally releasing the first 3 onto Blu-Ray though only the original is really worthy of a mention. Starring Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in a tale of undercover cops and street racing its the film that pimped a thousand rides! Seriously though it comes remastered with a DTS-HD master audio soundtrack and more extras than you can shake a dipstick at! 1 & 2 out 30/03/09 with 3 out a week later.

If you’re a fan of the Saw series, you’ll be happy to know that the first three movies are shortly available on Blu-ray. The third installment has been available since Monday, and from March 30 both Saw and Saw 2 is released on Blu-ray in UK.

There’s very scarce information about the first two movies, but the third one comes with Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS-ES Matrix 6.1, and a bag of featurettes:

Samuel L Jackson is reprising is bad ass act in this thriller about an hellish neighbour. I watched this movie on a fligh a couple of months ago and thought it was perhaps not the most tense thriller I’ve seen but still a good watch. Perhaps watching it on a 7 inch screen had something to do with it, so look forward giving it a second beating on my big screen and in  Dolby TrueHD 5.1.

In addition to the main feature, the Blu-ray release comes with the standard audio commentary, deleted scenes and behind the scenes. Doesn’t sound like much of a value add to me…

Hillarious comedy rat-pack Luke Wilson, Will Farrell and Vince Vaugn will crash into Blu-ray with Old School on April 6.

The movie is about a thirty-something trio who relives their glory colleg years by establishing a kick-ass frat house. If you enjoyed any of the other movies with these guys, you’re bound to laugh out loud more than a few times during its 91 minutes.

The Blu-Ray release comes in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and 2.35:1 widescreen ratio.

The theme song Lose yourself perfectly captures the essence of the movie with its first few sentences:

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted – One moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

Released in 2002, Eminems bio pic is finally making it to Blu-ray. When I originally watched this movie on DVD I was pleasantly surprised with how engaging it was. The story is perhaps not best described as captivating, but it’s certainly solid enough to keep you alert throughout the movie. Eminem is a surprisingly decent actor, and of course Kim Basinger is shining as always – even in a very white trash kind of way. And that it’s filled with really good beats does surely help, and should sound even better in DTS-HD Master Audio 5.

Extras on the disc are The Making of 8 Mile, some uncensored rap battles and Superman music video.

8 Mile blu-ray will hit store shelves on March 30.

Next Monday will see the arrival of tripple Academy award nominated Changeling on Blu-Ray. Directed by Clint Eastwood, and masterly driven by actress Angelina Jolie as the mother who’s desperately looking for her missing son.

The Blu-Ray comes in 2.40:1 aspect ratio and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 sound. Look forward to a full review soon.

Ridley Scotts espionage thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe is due for Blu-Ray release by end of the month. There’s very scarce information about the Blu-Ray release specifics. But if the US release is anything to go buy, we can expect Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, DB live and possibly a digital copy to put on media players (or at least for a possible Special Edition version).

James Bond number 22 is hitting the shelves on March 23 in the UK with Daniel Craig making his second outing as the titular hero. Following on directly from the excellent Casino Royale you can again expect exotic locales, beautiful women and big bangs galore.

This movie received mixed reviews when it was released to theatres back in november so lets see if the Blu-Ray fares any better. Review coming soon.

If you haven’t picked up the Matrix Trilogy Blu-Ray boxset yet, you might be interested to know that the movies will shortly be available in single serve packages. On March 23 all three movies; The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions are ready for individual purchase.

I’m personally not a huge fan of the two second movies, but wouldn’t mind getting the first one as I think it’s brilliantly original for an Hollywood sci-fi action.

Fans of mr Bourne rejoice, the trilogy will be available as individual treats by the end of the month. By the 30th March you will be able to watch Bourne kick bad-guys butts in full HD glory. This includes the movies The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum.

I’m personally a huge fan of the trilogy, and really look forward to reviewing the Blu-Ray versions as soon as possible.
